Bodegónes

Bodegón is the Spanish term for still life, derived from bodega, meaning a storeroom or tavern. More broadly, it refers to the depiction of everyday objects, often centred around food and domestic scenes.

In Riccardo Marino’s Bodegónes, objects are not merely inanimate decorative elements; rather, they emerge as protagonists in a dialogue of forms and colors. Decontextualized and isolated within the surrounding space, they acquire an almost metaphysical dimension. Through a minimal  visual language, the artist evokes the darkness and silences of the Spanish Bodegónes of the Siglo de Oro. The symmetrical arrangement of the elements recalls the most classical still-life tradition, balancing the chromatic rendering pursuing a renewed visual experience.

These photographs invite the viewer to pause, and contemplate. reflect. They lead into a reflection  where time seems to dissolve and objects take on new meanings, creating an intimate atmosphere.
